Facelifts

This procedure which can be performed in several different ways aims to provide a more youthful appearance. The contours and appearance of the chin line and jaw line are the main focus. Small, fine lines or wrinkles are not affected by this surgery.

During this surgery, which is performed under a light general anaesthetic, an incision is made in the hairy skin area by the ear whereby the skin is separated from the underlying tissues before being tightened and any excess skin is removed. The underlying muscle fascia is usually also tightened. Liposuction under the chin area is a common addition to this procedure.

Patients usually remain the clinic overnight following surgery and patients are issued with a special facial bandage. The facial area is discolored and swollen during the next few weeks. Stitches are removed after one to two weeks.

This surgery is usually associated with some mild pain immediately after the procedure. There is also reduced sensitivity in the area in front of the incision which normally lasts for a month or so. Bleeding, infections and permanent nerve damage are very rare complication.
