Inverted nipples
Inverted nipples are a common problem among women and one which many women find leads to a feeling of ugliness and which can result in eczema. The ability to breast feed can also be affected in a negative manner.
The surgery is performed under a local anaesthetic and involves separating the connective tissue under the nipple between the milk ducts and adding tissue from the side areas thus preventing the tip of the nipple from returning to an inverted position again. The incision is made at the edge of the areola or within the areola itself resulting in a hardly visible scar.
In some cases the surgery may result in reduced nipple sensitivity.
